Hola and welcome to the desert. We are delighted to host you at 939 Bernardi Ln — also known as the Two Sister's Retreat — and hope you enjoy your time in this beautiful Krisel/Alexander midcentury home in Palm Springs. You are here for vacation, so please relax and have a great time. There are no silly questions, so reach out anytime if you want help operating something or you would like recommendations for great places to eat and awesome things to do.

Good to Know

  • The garage code is 2653, then press enter.
  • The house key and two gate cards are in the 1st drawer on the left in the bar counter, under the cabinet labeled "Pool Glassware." Please return them to their proper place at the end of your stay — failure to do so will result in a $200 fee deducted from the security deposit.
  • At the end of your stay, please lock the front door and exit through the garage. Make sure the inside door from the home into the garage is left unlocked, and the big garage door is closed. We recommend keeping the garage door closed and all doors locked whenever you're not in the home.
  • To operate the indoor fireplace, turn the key located in the wall to the left of the fireplace, then flip the switch on the wall (not on the left side of the fireplace) to the ON position.
  • The key to the outdoor fire pit is in the 1st drawer on the left in the bar counter, under the "Pool Glassware" cabinet, labeled "outdoor fire pit." The gas key ignition hole is hard to see in the dark — it's on the edge of the fire pit facing the brick wall of the neighbor's house. To light it, ball up a paper towel, light it on fire, set it in the rocks of the fire pit, then turn on the gas. Please be careful, as the flames can get rather high.
  • There are two Ring cameras on the property — one in the carport and one on the doorbell, which faces the front gate and pool area.

Mailbox

The mailbox is located across the street, #8. The mailbox key is in the 1st drawer on the left in the bar counter, under the cabinet labeled "Pool Glassware."

Television

Each TV is Roku connected, and you can use all your favorite streaming apps (they also have over-the-air channels). Don't worry if you forget to sign out of your apps when you leave — we'll take care of that during checkout and cleaning.

Pool and Spa

Everything you need for the pool and spa is on the white remote located on the bar. The hot tub will heat up to 104°F; the pool itself is not heated. You can also control both from your phone — see the steps below.

Heating the Spa

  1. 1Install the 'ScreenLogic Connect' app (Android or iPhone) — no password is needed if you're connected to the home wifi.
  2. 2Tap 'Pool' to turn on the pool pump, or 'Spa' to turn on the spa pump.
  3. 3On the Pool page, you can set a target low and target high temperature (it will even refrigerate the pool water if it's too hot).
  4. 4On the Spa page, you can set your target temperature — the hot tub heats up to 104°F.
  5. 5The pool schedule normally runs 8am to 4pm daily; adjust it in the app if you need to change that.

Pool Maintenance

The pool is serviced twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays, generally between 11am and 2pm (the schedule can vary). There's a pool net available for quick clean-ups between visits if wind blows debris in — if it gets excessively dirty, just let us know and we'll schedule a service. Landscaping is maintained on Mondays; gardeners usually arrive around 7am, though schedules can shift, especially around holidays.

Trash and Recycling

Trash and recycling are collected every Monday morning between 7-8am — cans need to be on the curb before 7am, and all recycling boxes should be broken down first. Bins are located on the north side of the property. All waste must be bagged before it goes in the bins, and please don't put trash in the recycling bin, as the city won't take it if that happens. Brown container = trash (everything except what's recycled); blue container = recycling (plastic, glass, metal cans, bottles, aluminum foil, newspaper, magazines, boxes, etc). The kitchen trash cans use regular trash bags — replacements are underneath the sink.
